Charleston County School District (CCSD) announced that Superintendent Anita Huggins has been honored with the Community Impact Award by the Historic Rotary Club of Charleston.

The award recognizes leaders who exemplify the Rotary motto of “Service Above Self.” Superintendent Huggins was celebrated for her unwavering dedication to students, families, and public education across the district. Through her vision and leadership, CCSD has continued to strengthen academic achievement, expand opportunities for students, and foster strong partnerships with the community.

“It is with heartfelt admiration and pride that I recognize Anita Huggins, Superintendent of Charleston County Schools, for the transformational leadership she brings to our district. Her tireless dedication and visionary guidance have led to measurable, lasting improvements in our schools, students, and communities,” said Karla Combs, President of the Historic Rotary Club of Charleston. “Anita truly embodies the Rotary motto of ‘Service Above Self,’ not only in her role but in every relationship she builds and every challenge she embraces. It comes as no surprise that she was a multiple nominee for this award from the Historic Rotary Club of Charleston. We are deeply proud of the work she empowers us to do together—as a team, as a community, and as champions for the future of education in Charleston.”

“I am deeply honored to receive this recognition from the Historic Rotary Club of Charleston,” said Superintendent Huggins. “This award is really a reflection of the incredible students, educators, and families I have the privilege to serve every day. Together, we are proving the power of community and the difference we can make when we put children first.”

CCSD extends gratitude to the Historic Rotary Club of Charleston for honoring Superintendent Huggins and for recognizing the impact of servant leadership. The district also thanks the many community members and leaders present for celebrating those who dedicate themselves to service.
