Support Richland Two Ready to Read Program through Bookfair at Barnes & Noble Midtown at Forest Acres

March 19, 2018

Barnes and Noble Midtown at Forest Acres will host a bookfair to support the Richland Two Ready to Read program, Saturday, March 24 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., at 3400 Forest Drive, Columbia.

Following Little Blue Truck’s Springtime Storytime at 11 a.m., children can also enjoy LEGO and STEAM activities during the bookfair. Student artwork from Bethel-Hanberry Elementary School and Rice Creek Elementary School will also be on display in the store.

The Ready to Read program seeks to provide 10 books to children in Pre-K through second grade in Richland School District Two, to read during the summer months with their parents. Research shows that children who are exposed to books at an early age are more likely to be successful during their educational careers.

“We want to give our youngest students 10 books for their home library to read over the summer with their parents,” said Martha Jones, executive director of strategic partnerships for Richland Two.

A percentage of each bookfair purchase, will be contributed to Richland Two, and used to purchase books for the Ready to Ready Program. Guests simply need to mention the bookfair or present bookfair ID number 12322624 to participate.
