Sylvan Learning Center of Anderson announces July Summer Camps

ANDERSON, S.C. – Parents looking for summer camps aimed at bolstering their children’s science and STEM skills have plenty of options at Sylvan Learning Center of Anderson this July.
The camps are as follows:
• Mad Science I: Kids complete three makerspace “missions” to explore cool science concepts. Join the makerspace phenomenon where kids gather to create, tinker and explore new concepts using cool materials! In this highly interactive camp, the kids will go on three maker “missions” to explore science concepts like speed, motion, chemistry, gravity and sound. Let the creativity soar! July 8 through July 12, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. For grades one through two.
• Engineering Lab I: Working in collaborative pairs, the kids will solve a design challenge with nothing but their imaginations, their LEGO® supplies, and their newfound knowledge of how simple machines work. July 8 through July 12, 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. For grades one through two.
• Machine Lab: Kids will race into the world of engineering and learn about simple machines such as gears, axles and wheels. They’ll design, build, and experiment with awesome creations using LEGO® bricks, improving their design and problem solving skills. July 15 through July 19, 1 p.m. through 4 p.m. For grades three through five.
• Star Camp Robotics: Kids will build and program more sophisticated robots with LEGO bricks. The kids will bring sophisticated robots to life based on a space theme. They’ll learn more problem solving skills and engineering concepts as they go. July 22 through July 26, 9 a.m. through 12 p.m. For grades three through five.
• Grand STEM Challenge—Level Up!: Use K’NEX to solve a design challenge, and join our national competition! Students follow the engineering design process and incorporate a renewable energy source in this new K’NEX design challenge! Teams compete against each other and with other Sylvan Learning Centers across the country to design the winning solution! Great fun to stretch creativity and problem solving! July 22 through July 26, 1 p.m. through 4p.m. For grades three through five.
