Take a bite out of hunger and save on zoo admission during Toucan Tuesdays

May 30, 2017

Visit Riverbanks Zoo and Garden on a Tuesday this summer and help curb hunger in the Midlands. Guests will receive pay-one-price admission to the park with a donation of two cans of food to Harvest Hope Food Bank when Toucan Tuesdays kick off June 13.

“It’s a blessing to have such a wonderful partner in Riverbanks Zoo,” said Denise Holland, CEO of Harvest Hope Food Bank. “With children not receiving meals at school, summer is a time when many families struggle to put food on the table. We’re so very thankful to Riverbanks and their supporters for providing help to those in need.”

The generosity of Zoo guests yielded nearly 3,000 pounds of food last summer providing 2,300 meals to struggling families in the Midlands.

Discount admission isn’t the only perk guests can enjoy for contributing on a Toucan Tuesday. Individuals who donate also are eligible to receive one $2 16oz. ICEE, one $2 24oz. fountain drink, plus a 2-for-$20 special on misting fans sold at various locations throughout the park (special wristbands to show proof of donation will be provided; limit one wristband per donor).

Guests can take advantage of one Toucan Tuesday or all eleven, June 13 – August 22. Donation bins will be located at both the Zoo and Garden entrances.

The promotion applies to general admission rates only (purchase one admission and get the second for equal or lesser value free; Explorer wristbands and Riverbanks’ memberships are not included).
