TD Charitable Foundation awards Lowcountry Food Bank $10,000 to support its Food for Health program
August 26, 2025Lowcountry Food Bank (LCFB) announced that the TD Charitable Foundation, the giving arm of TD Bank, has donated $10,000 to support LCFB’s Food for Health program. Funds will support the purchase of nutritious food for patients who screen positive for food insecurity.
Lowcountry Food Bank (LCFB) believes that working alongside its partners to improve their neighbors’ access to the nutritious foods they need to thrive is integral to improve health outcomes and decrease costs associated with poor health.
“At TD, we know that if people are not confident about their health, they can’t be confident about their future,” said Scott Sharp, Regional Vice President of Coastal Carolina at TD Bank. “The TD Charitable Foundation is proud to support Lowcountry Food Bank’s work to increase consistent access to food and improve the overall health and wellbeing of our communities.”
LCFB’s Food for Health initiative was developed to support healthcare partners and help break the cycle between food insecurity and chronic disease. As healthcare systems evolve to address improved population health, patient experience, and a reduction in costs, food banks are strategically positioned to help improve the health and well-being of communities through programs like Food for Health.
LCFB’s partnership with healthcare providers though Food for Health ensures that patients who experience food insecurity have direct access to nutritious food. LCFB can modify the program to meet the needs of its healthcare partners and the people they serve. Developed through evidence-based interventions, LCFB’s Food for Health program helps patients access the food they need to nourish their bodies. Healthcare partners also receive referral cards and/or posters to direct patients to local LCFB partner food pantries.
“Almost 80% of health outcomes are predicted by social, environmental, and behavioral factors,” said Nick Osborne, President and CEO of Lowcountry Food Bank. “These factors are known as Social Determinants of Health (SDOH). One SDOH that has a direct correlation to health outcomes is reliable access to quality food,” he said. “We thank the TD Charitable Foundation for its support to keep the neighbors we serve healthy.”
