Ten at the Top names Sharon Purvis Director of Outreach and Special Projects

April 12, 2019

Ten at the Top (TATT) has announced the addition of Sharon Purvis as Director of Outreach and Special Projects. Purvis has been connected with TATT for the past six years as a writer and part-time communications specialist, and this is a significant expansion of her role with the organization.

Purvis’s role will be to support and expand the outreach of TATT, building engagement within the ten counties of the Upstate, and working with Executive Director Dean Hybl on new and existing TATT initiatives. A part of the outreach, Purvis will be overseeing the new #UpstateVibe365 campaign, which focuses on places and events in the Upstate through social media, a comprehensive regional calendar, and a weekly newsletter.

“Bringing Sharon on board full time was a good fit with where we are in our tenth year as an organization,” Hybl said. “Given our focus as a regional connecter, we are regularly identifying ways to build collaborative partnerships and awareness of programs, initiatives and opportunities for growing collective capacity across the region. Sharon has a background in community engagement and will help us continue to grow relationships and connections across the Upstate.”

Purvis moved to the Upstate in 2010 to marry her husband, Garroll, who has worked at AFL in Duncan for 29 years; they currently live in Spartanburg. In her time here in the Upstate, she has mostly worked as a freelancer, writing for TATT as well as other regional publications. She previously served as Director of Communications for Montreat College in North Carolina and in various publishing roles in North Carolina, New York, and New Jersey.

“My work with Ten at the Top over the past several years has really helped me get to know the Upstate in ways that most newcomers aren’t able to,” Sharon says. “I love the mission of Ten at the Top and am excited to be able to focus my energy on the important work of this organization.”
