The Assaults partners with USA Cycling

SPARTANBURG, SC – The Freewheelers Cycling Association, host of The Assaults on Mt. Mitchell and Marion, recently announced its new partnership with USA Cycling. Beginning with the 2016 event, The Assaults on Mount Mitchell and Marion will be USA Cycling-sanctioned events.
“On behalf of The Freewheelers, we are delighted to partner with USA Cycling,” said Katie Jordan, Event Director for The Assaults. “This partnership speaks to the uniqueness of our ride, one of the most challenging in the Southeast, and we know our stakeholders and participants will see the value in this opportunity.”
Each year, USA Cycling sanctions more than 3,000 events across the U.S. The organization administers 10 national-level calendars, and manages 18 national championship events for all ages and skill levels. In addition to sanctioning this event, and promoting it to its members and clubs, USA Cycling will also offer single-day insurance coverage for riders in the Assaults. Registration is open for the 2016 Assaults on Mt. Mitchell and Marion, which is set for Monday, May 16. This one-day century ride, known as the Southeast’s Premier Cycling Experience, attracts nearly 1,000 cyclists from around the world each year.
