The Charity Ball Board of Greenville announces beneficiaries for funds raised by the 2021 Rose Ball
April 20, 2021The Charity Ball Board of Greenville has unanimously selected the beneficiaries for the 2021 Rose Ball. The 26th Rose Ball will be held on Friday, September 24, 2021 at the Poinsett Club.
Following the ball’s 50-year tradition, fifty percent of the proceeds of the Rose Ball will benefit Bon Secours St. Francis Health System. Bon Secours St. Francis will direct these funds toward Project SEARCH, an international school-to-work program model that provides high school students with disabilities internship opportunities in a work environment, with the ultimate goal of competitive employment. The remaining 50 percent of the proceeds of the 2021 Rose Ball will be divided among the following local, non-profit organizations in the areas of Arts, Education, Environment and Health and Human Services:
• Carolina Dance Collaborative
• Foothills Family Resources
• Fostering Great Ideas
• Greenville Center for Creative Arts
• Greenville Free Medical Clinic
• Jasmine Road
• On Track Greenville
• Phillis Wheatley Community Center
• Safe Harbor
• Soteria Community Development Corporation
• United Ministries
“The Rose Ball is rooted in serving the needs of our beloved Greenville County, and that mission is more important than ever before,” said Brian Rogers, president of the Charity Ball Board executive committee. “It is always a show-stopping event, but right now the spotlight is on Bon Secours St. Francis Health System and the local non-profits that are doing an incredible job helping the people of our community weather what has been a really tough year. We’re grateful for the generosity of Greenville and for all of the volunteers and donors who are making this year’s Rose Ball the best yet.”
The 2021 Rose Ball beneficiaries were selected from a pool of over 80 applications submitted by qualifying non-profits in Greenville County. The Charity Ball Board of Greenville’s Beneficiaries Committee, led by chair Gaye Sprague and vice-chair Courtney Atkinson, reviewed each application, conducted site visits, and presented a slate for recommendation to the Charity Ball Board this spring.
“Since the Rose Ball began fifty years ago, over $4 million has been raised and distributed to local non-profits in Greenville County. These organizations do critical work to serve the physical, emotional, educational, environmental and cultural needs in our community,” said Gaye Sprague, chair of the 2021 Beneficiaries Committee. “We were inspired by the grant applications, and it was a challenge to make the final selections among so many worthy organizations. But we’re confident in the projects the funds will benefit and those organizations who will manage them.”
The Rose Ball is Greenville’s longest-running charitable community event, featuring more than 4,000 roses and providing funding for many Greenville charitable organizations biennially.
