The Circus Comes to the Laurens Library

May 27, 2024

This summer, the Laurens Library is transforming into a three-ring circus with its exciting theme—Ringling Readers! All events and programs for this year’s summer reading adventure will be hosted right at the Laurens Library, promising a spectacle of fun and learning for all ages.

Registration opens on June 3rd at any library location, including the Bookmobile. Participants will receive a tracking card to log either 12 books or 12 hours of reading. To make it even more engaging, local businesses in Clinton, Joanna, Gray Court, and Laurens will offer stamps that count as completed books or hours. Complete your card by August 3rd to qualify for a chance to win a spectacular prize!

Children under 11 years old signing up will receive a special tee-shirt, while supplies last. Throughout the summer, the library has lined up a series of big-top programs sure to delight. For children aged 3-10, activities include juggling, storytelling sessions, and exciting visits by friendly animals. Older kids, aged 6-10, can participate in crafting exploding cotton candy and creating their own clown marionettes. Teens aged 14-17 will engage in Mario Kart races and get creative with designing clown makeup.

A detailed calendar of events is available upon registration, on the library’s website (www.lcpl.org), and through their social media channels on Facebook and Instagram.

To kick off the summer reading extravaganza, the library invites everyone to a grand opening party on June 10th at 10am at the Laurens Library. Join in the celebration with special guests from Big Air Trampoline Park and the Laurens County Sheriff’s Office’s Polar Patrol ice cream truck!

Whether you’re a longtime reader or just discovering the joy of books, the Laurens Library’s Ringling Readers summer program promises something extraordinary for everyone. Don’t miss out—step right up and be part of the circus-themed adventure in reading and fun!
