The City of Charleston announces changes to trash collection days beginning October 1
September 11, 2025Beginning October 1, 2025, the City of Charleston will implement changes to trash collection days for residents in specific areas. The update applies to trash collection only (including appliances, construction debris, furniture, and yard debris). Garbage collection days will not change.
The following areas will see changes to their scheduled trash collection days:
- Peninsula
- Inner West Ashley (inside I-526, back toward the peninsula)
- James Island
Residents in these areas should look for a flyer attached to their roll cart that lists their new pickup day.
For all other areas—Daniel Island, Clement’s Ferry, Wando/Cainhoy, Outer West Ashley (outside I-526, back toward Hollywood & Ravenel), and Johns Island—collection schedules will remain unchanged.
To help residents confirm their updated schedule, the City has provided an online lookup tool through MAPNET. Simply enter your address to view your updated trash collection day.
In addition, an instructional video is available to guide residents on how to properly prepare items for collection.
