The City of Charleston launches annual School Supply Drive for the 21st First Day Festival

July 18, 2024

The City of Charleston is proud to announce the kickoff of its annual School Supply Drive in support of the upcoming First Day Festival. While the First Day Festival will provide an exciting back-to-school event for children and families on Sunday, August 11, the primary focus right now is to gather essential school supplies for students in need.

The 21st annual First Day Festival, a collaborative effort between the City of Charleston, Charleston County School District, and the South Carolina Aquarium, aims to equip students with the tools they need to succeed. Alongside the festivities, exhibitors at the Gaillard and Liberty Square will offer information on valuable community resources and services.

To ensure that every student receives the necessary supplies for the new school year, we urgently request the community’s support. School supply donations will be used to pack pre-packed bags for students, and we rely on the generosity of our community to make this happen.

School supply donations can be dropped off at the following sites:

  • Arthur Christopher Community Center- 265 President Street
