Youth Justice Action Month

September 16, 2025

The City of Columbia Office of Neighborhood Safety and Engagement invites the community for Youth Justice Action Month (YJAM 2025), a dynamic event uplifting young voices and promoting community-driven solutions. The theme for this year is “Turn up the Future”.

YJAM is a vital opportunity to highlight the importance of youth leadership in shaping safer, healthier communities. This year’s program features youth voice circles, where young people can share perspectives and ideas for positive change, alongside hands-on workshops and an interactive service project designed to inspire collaboration and action.

In addition to youth-led programming, the event will host a vibrant resource fair, offering families access to local services, while community members enjoy music, food, and fellowship throughout the day.

“YJAM is about creating space for young people to lead, connect, and take action,” said Kimberly Goethe, Program Assistant for the Office of Neighborhood Safety and Engagement. “When youth are given the opportunity to share their voices, they help shape a stronger, more connected community for us all.”
