The City of Columbia welcomes Gadget Boy to Devine St. with a ribbon cutting ceremony

The City of Columbia welcomed in another small business in the community with a ribbon cutting ceremony at Gadget Boy located at 2822 Devine St., Columbia, SC 29205. Mayor Daniel J. Rickenmann, Mayor Pro-Tem William Brennan, Columbia Economic Development, the Devine Street Association, and owners/staff from Gadget Boy all helped cut the ribbon to officially open up their doors to the Columbia community.

“We have had an incredible run in the last three years with lots of new businesses opening up,” Mayor Rickenmann said. “I started my career on Devine Street in 1994 when I opened my first restaurant. Devine Street has always been a center of small businesses in Columbia and everybody is so supportive.”

Gadgetboy is a boutique electronic store that offers an unparalleled shopping experience for tech enthusiasts and gadget lovers. Designed to cater to the ever-evolving needs of modern consumers, their store combines cutting-edge technology, extensive product range, upscale fixes, and exceptional customer service to create a one stop shop for all things electronic.

“Not everybody is able to get into all of the gadgets including our iPhone, iPads and everything else we have, so it’s great to recommend Gadget Boy as a resource for everyone to learn about the wonderful technology and upgrades they can have,” Mayor Pro-Tem Brennan said. “We have a lot of great retailers and lots of great small business along on Devine Street & District 3, so this is a great community Gadget Boy is coming into.”

This is the first store front Gadget Boy has opened up, but has plans for additional locations throughout Columbia in the future. The business was founded by a group of tech enthusiasts from Columbia, who grew up fixing and engineering electronics, which fueled the idea of turning their passion into a business.

“It is really about supporting local,” Fox Black, Gadget Boy Store Manager, said. “We have had a huge help with generating an amazing clientele with the help of surrounding small businesses. We look forward to fixing your broken phones, laptops, tablets and whatever else you need. Also, my favorite thing in the world is showing everyone what is available in the world and you didn’t even know about it.”
