The Fine Arts Center Begins Accepting Applications for 2015-16 School Year
November 3, 2014GREENVILLE, SC – The Fine Arts Center (FAC), a school for gifted high school students in the literary, visual and performing arts, is pleased to announce the opening of its application process for the 2015-2016 academic year.
South Carolina’s first specialized arts school will begin accepting online applications at www.fineartscenter.net for the 2015-2016 academic year on November 3, 2014. Students are selected on the basis of talent, interest, motivation and commitment to their discipline and can apply within any of the core areas of architecture, theatre, dance, visual arts, music, creative writing or digital filmmaking.
“At the Fine Arts Center, we celebrate the individuality of each student,” said Roy Fluhrer, Director of the Fine Arts Center. “We are excited to open the application process for the next school year and to meet emerging talented and committed Greenville artists.”
The school will continue to accept online applications until January 16, 2015 and auditions will take place during the month of February. Students can apply in as many areas as they like, but once accepted, they will need to choose one area to study.
The Fine Arts Center is an application based school for grades 9-12 serving Greenville County’s High School student population to include the area’s high schools, private, charter and home schools. Students attend the school five days a week in the morning or afternoon for 110 minutes of instruction, spending the remainder of their time in other academic work at the home high school. Fine Arts Center students continue to achieve at the highest artistic levels, and its recent graduating class of 88 students earned over 10.8 million dollars in scholarship opportunities.
The Fine Arts Center will hold two visitation days in November. All interested eight grade students are invited to visit the school on Thursday, November 20th. Students in grades 9 – 11 can visit on Friday, November 21st.

The Fine Arts Center (FAC)
Established in 1974, the Fine Arts Center (FAC) is South Carolina’s first secondary school for gifted students in the literary, visual and performing arts. As an application based school of 400 students, FAC operates within the Greenville County’s public school system. Students are able to study architecture, creative writing, dance, filmmaking, music, theatre or the visual arts with a faculty of practicing artists. FAC’s 2013-2014 graduating class of 88 students earned over 10.8 million dollars in scholarships and enrolled in over 40 different colleges and universities.
