The Jeep Rogers Family YMCA at Lake Carolina Celebrates its Grand Opening

COLUMBIA, SC – January 31, 2008 – The Jeep Rogers Family YMCA at Lake Carolina celebrated its Grand Opening in style on Saturday, January 26. The public attended the Grand Opening from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. in a celebration designed to display the first class facility and introduce the community to the quality programs and services designed to attract and provide for the families of Northeast Columbia.
After the all-day affair, the YMCA hosted its Grand Opening Gala and Dedication in a formal ceremony at 6:30 p.m. The new Y was officially named after and dedicated to J.P. “Jeep” Rogers, a steadfast and enthusiastic ambassador and employee of the YMCA for 60 years. Mr. Rogers attended the ceremony and awarded Wendy Broderick, Executive Director of the Jeep Rogers Family YMCA at Lake Carolina, a Family Bible – the backbone of the YMCA and its principles. After the ceremony the gala continued with live music, great food and facility tours.
The Jeep Rogers Family YMCA at Lake Carolina already boasts over five thousand members to its state-of-the art, 55,000 square foot facility with a wellness center, an elevated indoor running track, a full size gymnasium, a youth activity center, an eight-lane indoor swimming pool, tennis courts and a cutting edge KaBOOM! playground designed by local children. Members also enjoy excellent programming such as traditional aerobics, yoga, pilates, cycle and many other group exercise classes, open swim for the entire family, sports leagues and much more.
