The Junior League of Columbia Proudly Announces 2015-2016 Board of Directors
June 4, 2015COLUMBIA, SC – The Junior League of Columbia (JLC) is a nonprofit organization of over 1,500 female volunteer members. The JLC invests over $150,000 in community programs every year and has awarded $320,000 in one-time enrichment grants over the past two years. The JLC hosts an annual Healthy Kids Fun Fair that is open to the public and free for all attendees. During the 2014 – 2015 League year volunteers completed over 100 community projects, gave over 6,500 hours of their time working in the Midlands community and served over 7,900 families.
The JLC announced its 2015-2016 Board of Directors. This year’s Board will be led by President Kim Dickerson Leighton. Leighton joined the League in 2002 and has served in various capacities to include: 80th Anniversary Chair, Healthy Kids with Special Needs Co-Chair, Vice-President for Community and President-Elect, among others.
“It is a privilege to serve as the 85th President of the Junior League of Columbia. This year, the Board and I will focus on our mission. We want to make sure we are sending trained volunteers out in the community” said Leighton. “This past year, we celebrated our 90thanniversary; I am thrilled to be part of an organization which gives us the opportunity to be trained leaders, to develop our potential and to impact the community.”
