The Main Street District unveils ceiling of lights installation on the 1600 Block of Main Street
December 14, 2022The Main Street District, along with the City of Columbia and many generous supporters, will light up the night with a permanent installation of thousands of LED lights in a canopy above the 1600 block of Main Street.
Santa Claus and Mayor Rickenmann will be on hand Friday night, December 16th at 5:30 pm to flip the switch on the project, which has taken many months to come together. Sponsors include the Main Street District, City of Columbia, Mast General Store, Belser Law Firm, Cyberwoven, Garvin Design Group, LTC Hospitality Group, Dominion Energy, Martha Fowler, Tom and Madeline Prioreschi, Jeff and Amy Prioreschi, Chris Rogers, and Robert Lewis.
“This project has been in the works for months and we are so excited to finally see it happen,” said Matt Kennell, President and CEO of the Main Street District. “We have seen this in other cities and really think it will be wonderful for Main Street, potentially as a prototype for other blocks. It’s a way to add some additional lighting with a lot of charm on one of our busiest blocks, and we think people will just love it.”
