The Really Good, Really Big, Really Cheap Book Sale

Coming Aug. 12-14 to McAlister Square 

GREENVILLE, SC – Greenville Literacy Association (GLA), the largest community-based adult literacy program in South Carolina, will hold its annual Really Good, Really Big, Really Cheap Book Sale August 12-14 at McAlister Square, 225 S. Pleasantburg Drive in Greenville.

For the 15th year, GLA will stage its massive new and gently used book sale to raise money to help improve adult literacy levels in Greenville County. The Really Good, Really Big, Really Cheap Book Sale has become one of the area’s most popular annual events, featuring more than 125,000 books, DVDs CDs, audio books and vinyl records and raising more than $100,000 for GLA operations.

“There is not a more appropriate event to support adult literacy and promote reading in our community than The Really Good, Really Big, Really Cheap Book Sale,” said GLA Executive Director Jocelyn Slaughter. “This sale generates a great deal of enthusiasm for books, for reading and for learning among all ages, and it’s a truly exciting thing to see.”

In 2015, The Really Good, Really Big, Really Cheap Book Sale welcomed more than 10,000 visitors and 603 volunteers. More than 126,200 books were donated and 98,958 were sold during the three-day event.

The 2016 Really Good, Really Big, Really Cheap Book Sale kicks off on Friday, August 12, with a Preview Party from 5:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. This special event offers patrons a chance to shop before the sale opens to the general public. Preview party tickets are $35 per person or $60 per couple and include wine and light hors d’oeuvre. The Really Good, Really Big, Really Cheap Book Sale continues on Saturday, August 13, with free admission from 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Shoppers can pay $10 to enter the Early Bird Sale on Saturday at 7:30 a.m. On Sunday, August 14, The Really Good, Really Big, Really Cheap Book Sale will hold its Big Bag of Books Deal clearance event from 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.Admission is free and shoppers may fill designated bags with all types of books for only $10 per bag.
