The Salvation Army of the Midlands responds to flooding

LEXINGTON, SC – As rain continues to fall in the Carolinas, The Salvation Army of the Midlands in Columbia, South Carolina is responding to the needs of the community by serving meals to first responders and the citizens of Lexington and Richland Counties.
Thus far, our team has provided or plans to provide the following services:
  • 200 meals at the Lexington Leisure Center (Sunday, October 4)
  • 100 meals at the Seven Oaks Center in Lexington (Sunday, October 4)
  • 175 snacks and drinks at City of Columbia (October 4)
  • 417 meals at Transitions in Columbia (Saturday, October 3 and Sunday, October 4)
  • 25 meals at Dreher High School in Columbia (Sunday, October 4)
  • 100 meals at AC Flora High School in Columbia (Sunday, October 4)
  • 700 breakfast meals at City of Columbia Public Works (Monday, October 5)
Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Services teams are often the first on the scene and the last to leave, bringing immediate aid as well as emotional and spiritual care to individuals and families whose lives have been affected. While every disaster is unique and creates its own special needs, the core of The Salvation Army’s disaster program consists of several basic services: food service, emotional and spiritual care and emergency assistance.
