The Salvation Army thanks the community for a successful Christmas season

January 5, 2018

A letter from Major Henry Morris, Area Commander, The Salvation Army of the Midlands:

Thanks to generous community efforts, The Salvation Army of the Midlands raised over $346,016.36 with our red kettle campaign this Christmas season. We assisted over 1,400 families with Christmas assistance by providing gifts and grocery gift cards.  From those 1,400+ families, over 3,500 children woke up to gifts on Christmas morning that would have otherwise had nothing.

The Salvation Army would like to thank everyone who gave at the red kettle, adopted an angel, or gave toys at any of our toy drive locations!

During the Christmas Season, over 2,200 volunteers provided more than 5,400 volunteer hours. It truly was a community effort.

Many of our efforts to help those in need during this time of year would not be possible without the support and volunteer hours from businesses, local schools, organizations and individuals.

As we move into 2018, the need in this community is still great. One option to support the efforts of the Salvation Army would be a regular yearly contribution. This will directly help meet the needs of children and families every single day through our local social programs and services. Donations can be designated to support our children’s after school reading program, food baskets, meals for the homeless, rental/utility assistance, clothing, and disaster services.

Again, The Salvation Army of the Midlands thanks you for a wonderful 2017 Christmas season!

Sincerely,

Major Henry Morris
Area Commander
