The SCEA joins in nationwide American Education Week Celebration

November 9, 2017

The South Carolina Education Association will honor educators across the state at celebrations in their own schools during American Education Week, November 14-18

To raise awareness about the critical need to provide every child with a quality public education, The South Carolina Education Association will honor educators at celebrations in their own schools in Districts across the state as part of the National Education Association’s 95th annual American Education Week celebration, November 14—18, 2017.

The SCEA invited South Carolina K-12 public education principals to nominate their choice for educators in their schools they feel have gone above and beyond the call of duty in providing the best in education and learning to their students. There was an enthusiastic response and nominations immediately streamed in from principals across South Carolina. The SCEA President Bernadette R. Hampton will review the nominated educators and select the American Education Week educators to be honored in different regions of the state. During American Education Week, The SCEA will recognize the selected educators before their colleagues in surprise ceremonies in their schools. The SCEA will announce all of the winning educators in a statement during American Education Week.

By honoring educators who have been identified as going above and beyond the call of duty, The SCEA will be part of a nationwide effort to draw attention to American Education Week’s theme, “Great Public Schools: A Basic Right and Our Responsibility.” This represents NEA’s vision of calling upon all Americans to do their part in making public schools great for every child, so that they can grow and achieve in the 21st century.
