The Town of Chapin receives highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting

March 11, 2019

The Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting has been awarded to the Town of Chapin by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for its comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR). According to the GFOA, this acknowledgement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.

On Tuesday, March 5, Representative Chip Huggins presented the award to Town of Chapin Finance and Administrative Director, Laura Culler, in recognition for preparing the award-winning CAFR. Mayor David Knight and Councilmember Al Koon echoed sentiments of praise for Mrs. Culler and the accounting firm Mauldin & Jenkins for their hard work throughout this process.

The CAFR has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure’ to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the CAFR.
