Theatre Charleston Partners with South Carolina Theatre Association to Host First Statewide Unified Auditions
March 17, 2015CHARLESTON, SC – Theatre Charleston is proud to announce their newest partnership with South Carolina Theatre Association to expand the seventh annual Unified Auditions to be STATEWIDE! On April 11th, 2015, dozens of South Carolina’s top theatre directors and producers will gather to search for hundreds of actors, designers, and technicians for the 2015-2016 theatre season. New to theatre or a veteran of the stage, these auditions are for anyone and everyone!
Audition slots are on a first come, first serve basis. You must be at least 18 years old and be a member of Theatre Charleston or a member of SCTA or pay a $20 application fee to participate as an actor, designer, or technician. Theatre Charleston memberships are only $25 and include a variety of benefits such as discounts, invitations to special events, and much more.
Actors are given 90 seconds to use as they wish and typically perform a monologue or a monologue and song. An accomplished accompanist will be provided. A limited number of audition slots will be made available to ages 16-17. Audition applications can be downloaded at www.theatrecharleston.com/unifiedauditions and must be received by Friday, April 3rd.
Actors, designers and technicians of all experience levels are welcome to attend. There will be a special Unified Auditions workshop/Q&A session held in Saturday, March 21st at 1:00pm at Threshold Repertory Theatre. The workshop is free of charge and will cover what to expect at the Unifieds, how to complete the application process, and how to prepare. It’s a great way to get some extra helpful tips!

When: Saturday, April 11th by appointment between 10:00am-4:00pm. Applications must be received by April 3rd. Those interested in Charleston area work only will go earlier in the day. Those also interested in work outside of the Charleston area will go later in the day.

The League of Charleston Theatres, dba Theatre Charleston, is an alliance of theatre organizations created to support, advocate and promote Charleston’s theatre industry both locally and nationally. The mission of the League is to promote awareness and visibility for live theatre in the Charleston area, and provide services that strengthen the operations of both the member theaters and performing arts organizations in general. The League will serve as a forum for its members to address common concerns and as a vehicle for collective action.
The South Carolina Theatre Association is an organization that brings together theatre groups – Educational Theatre, Community Theatre, Professional Theatre, and High School Theatre – to improve and further the cultural growth of theatrical art by mutual aid and advancement and stimulation of public interest.
