Third generation officer joins Chapin Police Department

July 24, 2017

Walker Campbell followed in his family’s law enforcement footsteps today as he was sworn as a police officer with the Chapin Police Department. His grandfather Robert Smith was Chapin’s first Police Chief and his father Dan Campbell is a retired Lexington County Sheriff Deputy. Even his uncle Scott Smith still serves Lexington County Sheriff’s department.

Walker was one of the original members of the Chapin Explorers Post 170 which was established in 2012. A Chapin High School graduate, he graduated from the SC Criminal Justice Academy in December of 2016.

The Smith and Campbell families aren’t the only ones with a generational connection. Bill Zeigler, father of Chapin’s Police Chief Seth Zeigler, served as the Chief of Chapin’s Fire Department.
