Thomas Mechanical is an established mechanical construction company located in Laurens. We serve all over South Carolina but primarily the Upstate as well as North Georgia and Western North Carolina. Thomas Mechanical works at some of the most prominent job sites and many reputable general contractors in the state.
Thomas Mechanical does HVAC design build layout and installs, HVAC commercial/industrial air conditioning, residential air conditioning for houses, process piping for natural gas and compressed air, fire sprinkler systems, and service and Maintenance of HVAC equipment.
Open Positions Include:
• Service Technicians – experience with service, repair and installation startup for various brands and types of HVAC equipment for residential, commercial, and industrial settings. Must be certified to handle all refrigerants. Knowledge of commercial refrigeration is a plus. Must have a valid driver’s license.
• Service Technician Helpers – assist technicians with install and repair of HVAC systems. Must have a valid driver’s license.
• Pipefitters/Welders – Review plans and specifications to understand requirements, installation of welded and threaded pipe in commercial and industrial settings, familiarity with welded pipe and testing, as well as pipe takeoff and submittals, measure and cut pipes according to requirements, weld, assemble, install, and secure pipes.
• Sheetmetal Mechanics – Fabricate, assemble, measure, install, and repair sheet metal products and equipment, such as ductwork, plenums, and flashing. Set up and operate fabricating tools to cut, bend, and straighten sheet metal. Review plans and specifications to understand requirements. Familiarity with ductwork takeoff and submittals.
• Fire Sprinkler Helpers – Assist foreman with installation, service, and troubleshooting of automatic fire sprinkler systems along with all its related equipment. Assist foreman and/or fitter with installation of fire sprinkler systems in commercial and industrial buildings. Learn and use project drawings to accurately install fire sprinkler systems. Learn to thread and groove pipe, cut hanger rods, frequently climb ladders, hang pipe, read blueprints, layout, keep clean work area, and use appropriate equipment for any specific job such as tools, lifts, etc.
• Fire Sprinkler Design Apprentice – This is an entry-level position for an individual who is aspiring to become a Fire Sprinkler Designer. The individual will learn how to work with blueprints, draw floor plan requirements for fire sprinkler systems to ensure compliance, the layout of fire sprinkler systems, field surveys, part listings and provide field labor support. We offer continuing education in design while working under an experienced Designer. Once trained, a Designers responsibilities include design layout, field checking, fabrication listing, material equipment submittals, hydraulic calculations, applicable installation requirements, and close out procedures. In addition, a Designer is responsible for ensuring designs are in compliance with NFPA standards as well as ensuring delivery of quality service to the customer while maintaining scope of the company’s obligations. AutoCAD experience a plus.
