Community Festival Celebrating Historic Augusta Road

GREENVILLE, SC – July 22, 2013Augusta Road Business Association (ARBA) announces the 2013 Summer on Augusta taking place July 25 through July 27, and is presented by Virginia Hayes of Prudential C. Dan Joyner.  Summer on Augusta is a community festival celebrating one of Greenville’s most historic business districts. Festivities and live music will take place all along Augusta Road during this three day event. Supporting sponsors include Muncaster Financial Services, Priority One Security and Reynolds Planning and Design.

This will be the second year of Summer on Augusta.  The 2012 event was held on a much smaller scale and soon after Augusta Road Business Association decided that it needed to grow into a larger community festival. Augusta Road has not had a community festival since Shaggin on Augusta, a beach music and shag event which ended 7 years ago. Live music will still be a focus of Summer on Augusta but will include many styles of music including beach music, bluegrass, folk, rock and country. Featured local bands include Alternate Take with Spencer Rush, West End String Band, The Royal Scotsman Band, 23 Strings, Craigo Creek Band and Simple Syrup band with Charles Hedgepath, Doug Jones, and Adam McFarlane.

The 2013 Summer on Augusta events are created to celebrate summer in the south with many themed events and attractions.  Look forward to the Tomato (Mater) Pie Contest with celebrity judge Francine Bryson from popular TV show American Baking Competition. Plus, a Backyard Bash, community Block Party, Fun in The Sun beach music fest, Sounds for Hounds, Music at McDaniel, and Grillin’ and Chillin’ are just some of the attractions during Summer on Augusta.  A full schedule of events and information can be found at www.onlyonaugusta.com

Augusta Road has its own newscast! Only On Augusta Unplugged is an entertaining newscast that updates residents and businesses with recent news and events. Greenville native and professional actor, Rob Bouton, is the personality for the quarterly segment. Unplugged has a comic flare to it that the Augusta Road community enjoys.
