THRIVE Laurens County to Host Free Community Event on September 18

THRIVE Laurens County, a local initiative dedicated to fostering health, connection, and wellness in our rural communities, will host a free community event on Thursday, September 18, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the SC Empowerment Centre, 340 West Mill Street, Gray Court, SC 29645. The event is designed to bring neighbors together to discuss what matters most, whether it’s healthy food access, opportunities for active living, or building stronger community connections. In addition to
meaningful conversation, attendees can look forward to:

A free dinner for all registered attendees
Take-home FoodShare boxes for participating families (One per household)
Fun activities for children

Please note: This event has a limited capacity. Participants are encouraged to register in advance by visiting SC Empowerment Centre.

“Our mission is simple but powerful: to create spaces where community members feel heard, valued, and supported in leading healthier
lives,” said Jervelle Fort, Chair of THRIVE Laurens County coalition. “This event is about empowering Laurens County residents to share ideas and be part of shaping the future of wellness and connection in our county.” As part of THRIVE Laurens County’s broader mission, the gathering will also highlight local resources and opportunities for families to become more engaged in building a healthy, thriving, close-knit community.
