Tickets now on sale for Sippin’ Safari
August 6, 2014GREENVILLE, SC – One of the Upstate’s premier wine paring festivals is back with new sponsors and events this September.
Sippin’ Safari will be held Friday, September 5, 2014 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Greenville Zoo, said Amanda Osborne, Executive Director of the Friends of the Greenville Zoo, which is the event’s host. Tickets are $40 in advance and may be purchased at www.SippinSafari.com. Designated driver passes are available for $15.
Liquid Catering, Greenville’s premier event bar catering company, is partnering with Friends as the event’s Merlot Sponsor, Osborne said.
“We are thrilled to have Liquid Catering on board and sincerely appreciate their generous support,” she said.
More than 1,000 people are expected to attend Sippin’ Safari, which features wine and hors d’oeuvre pairings, live music, and a silent auction, Osborne said. South State Bank is the event’s Chardonnay Sponsor.
“The purpose of Sippin’ Safari is to raise awareness and funds for the renovation of the Lions’ Den and Friends of the Greenville Zoo,” she said.
The construction will include improved conditions for Chuma and Saied, the Greenville Zoo’s two African Lions, as well as provide additional space for future lions and lion cubs. The lion’s den will be a two-story building that will feature four den spaces and a public viewing window. It will meet the needs outlined for the AZA accreditation and the African Lion Species Survival Plan for breeding.
People can “like” the Friends of the Greenville Zoo Facebook page for sneak peeks at the silent auction offerings, announcements of restaurant and winery partners.
“Sippin’ Safari is one of the Upstate’s most popular events,” Osborne said. “We plan on making this the best Sippin’ yet in 2014. And we’ll have a new baby giraffe on exhibit for Sippin’ this year as an added bonus.”
