Tidelands Health to provide free on-site sports physicals for Georgetown County students
April 7, 2026Students in Georgetown County School District can receive the required physicals needed to participate in school sports through a series of free, on-site clinics provided by Tidelands Health this spring.
Physicians, orthopedic specialists, physical therapists and other care providers will visit each of the district’s four high schools to perform comprehensive physicals, assessing students’ overall health and fitness, blood pressure, vision, height, weight, movement, joint function and more.
The free physicals will be offered on the following schedule:
- Andrews High School, April 23, 1:30 p.m.
- Georgetown High School, April 30, 1:30 p.m.
- Carvers Bay High School, May 7, 1:30 p.m.
- Waccamaw High School, May 14, 2:30 p.m.
The program is open to all middle and high school students in Georgetown County School District. Students do not need to schedule an appointment.
Launched in 2005 as a small initiative within a Tidelands Health physician’s office, the program has grown into what it is today, giving hundreds of student athletes convenient access to sports physicals. By bringing clinical teams directly into schools, the program helps remove a potential barrier to sports participation and encourages students to stay active.
“We’re grateful to continue providing this longstanding service to student athletes across Georgetown County,” said Anita Giardino, senior director of rehabilitation and wound care at Tidelands Health. “By offering these physicals at no cost and directly at the schools, we help encourage physical activity, remove obstacles for families and help students begin their sports seasons safely and confidently.”
