Todd & Moore Sporting Goods to Celebrate 70th Anniversary

August 4, 2014

COLUMBIA, SC – Todd & Moore Sporting Goods will celebrate its 70th Anniversary on Thursday, August 7th at 620 Huger Street in downtown Columbia with a huge in-store event.  The celebration will be an all day event from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm with a special ceremony at noon on the store’s world famous landing.  For 70 years, Todd & Moore has been the Midland’s specialists in sports and a gathering place for coaches and players from all over the state.  Todd & Moore remains locally owned and operated by the same two founding families.

Special Ceremony to Honor Long Time Employee

Former employees, retired and current coaches, customers and local dignitaries have been invited to a special ceremony taking place at noon on the landing to recognize Team Sales Representative, Jim Moore.  Jim is retiring after 55 years of serving schools, colleges and recreation leagues all over South Carolina.  Jim began working at Todd & Moore as a teenager and has been a devoted employee and an integral part of the store’s history.

World Famous Landing

For those unfamiliar with Todd & Moore’s store layout, the world famous landing is a low upper floor just 5 steps above the sales floor.  It has long been a gathering place for high school and college coaching legends such as Frank McGuire, Bobby Cremins, Harry Parone, Joe Turbeville, Eddie Muldrow and many others from all over South Carolina. Todd & Moore has been the go to sports store for all of the great Carolina coaches and players since 1944! Every Thursday during the school year, retired and current coaches meet up to reminisce and evaluate current local talent.  On any given day former and current Gamecock student athletes such as Jadeveon Clowney, Connor Shaw, Dylan Thompson, AJ Cann,  Bruce Ellington, Alshon Jeffrey, DJ Swearingen and Jackie Bradley Jr. can be seen shopping in Todd & Moore and meeting their fans.
