Town of Hilton Head Island lifts State of Emergency

August 8, 2024

Town of Hilton Head Island Mayor Alan Perry has rescinded the State of Emergency that was put in place to respond to impacts from Tropical Storm Debby, effective 9 a.m. today.

The town resumed normal business operations today.

This declaration removes the temporary moratorium on issuing construction or reconstruction permits. It also means the Town can now accept and process permit applications or schedule or complete permit inspections that may have been placed on hold during the State of Emergency for Tropical Storm Debby.
