Toy Donations Desperately Needed At Salvation Army
December 15, 2014COLUMBIA, SC – The Salvation Army begins the distribution of toy donations to local families in need tomorrow, Tuesday, December 16th through December 19th. The Salvation Army and its volunteers began packing the family boxes last week. The families picking up later in the week are sparse or not yet filled due to the lack of toys available, especially for certain age groups.
There are little to no toys available for the older boys and girls, ages ten through twelve. “The Salvation Army needs generous donors to purchase new, unwrapped toys for these older children,” said Major Roger Coulson, Regional Coordinator at The Salvation Army of the Midlands. “Time is running out and there are many children we still need to provide for.”
Donations can be dropped off at:
The Salvation Army
3024 Farrow Road
Columbia, SC 29203
Today through Thursday
8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m
Suggested items for the older children are: basketballs, footballs, bikes, scooters, lego sets, science kits, arts and craft kits, headphones, roller skates, and electronic handheld games.
“Many thanks to everyone who has donated toys to help local children in need and to all of the places where we collected toys,” said Major Coulson. “We still need additional support from the community to make sure each child gets new, unwrapped toys this Christmas season.”
