Traffic Advisory: Downtown Underground project update for week of May 15

Spartanburg Water continues work on water line replacement on Daniel Morgan Avenue between the intersections of West Main Street and West Broad Street. Construction of the water main will be in the outside southbound lane of Daniel Morgan, which will require traffic to use a single lane. Access to all area businesses will remain open. Work hours are 8 a.m.-9 p.m.
IPR Southeast and Bradley’s Contracting, the contractors performing rehabilitation of the water main on West Main Street will be taking steps to prepare for the rehabilitation of the 10-inch water main. This will require several excavations to be made this week between Forest Street and St. John Street requiring localized closures of a single lane of traffic depending on where the contractor is working. Traffic control will be in place and traffic flow will be maintained.
Overall Project Status:
Approximately 375 linear feet of 12-inch water main has been installed on Daniel Morgan Avenue from Ezell Street to past the intersection with West Main Street. The line has been tested and disinfected. The project is proceeding well and is on track. Spartanburg Water continues to coordinate closely with the City of Spartanburg, the AC Hotel, and area businesses as many activities are taking place simultaneously in the area.
