Transitions to host 14th annual Reconstructing Home at the Columbia Museum of Art
September 8, 2025Transitions Homeless Center will host its 14th annual Reconstructing Home event on Wednesday, October 1, at the Columbia Museum of Art. The evening will bring together community leaders, businesses, and supporters to celebrate Transitions’ work in the Midlands and raise vital funds to help men and women move out of homelessness and into permanent housing.
For 14 years, Reconstructing Home has brought together stakeholders, donors, and partners to celebrate Transitions’ efforts and promote its mission. The funds raised support the kitchen in serving 500 meals daily, aid outreach teams in reaching people experiencing homelessness, and provide resources to help hundreds secure permanent housing each year. Guests will enjoy tastings from local restaurants, participate in a silent auction, and, for the first time this year, witness the presentation of Transitions’ Annual Awards.
Awards Presentation
For the first time, the presentation of Transitions’ Annual Awards will take place during Reconstructing Home. Previously held each January, these awards honor individuals and organizations who have made extraordinary contributions to the mission.
The highlight of the evening will be the presentation of the Cathy Novinger Award to Anita Floyd, in recognition of her decades of leadership and her key role in founding Transitions. “Anita Floyd has been part of Transitions’ story from the very beginning,” said Craig Currey, CEO of Transitions Homeless Center. “Her leadership and dedication helped establish who we are today. Recognizing her with the Cathy Novinger Award honors both her past contributions and her ongoing impact on our community.”
Other award recipients include Jean Denman, recipient of the Claire Fort Volunteer of the Year Award; Dan Olson, Bishop Johnnie White, and Rick McDermott, Faith-Based Partners of the Year; Rebecca Ashley, recipient of the Outstanding Program Support Award; Green’s Beverages, named Business Benefactor of the Year; and the Richland County Office of Community Development, honored as Partner in Excellence.
