Trees shouldn’t be the only things sparkling this time of year
December 5, 2015By Brian Maynor
Now that the holiday season is in full swing, it’s time to start thinking about all of the holiday parties you have on the books and how to look great at every one.
Since it’s the season of silver, gold and things that sparkle and glitter, you should not be afraid to incorporate those elements into your wardrobe. Metallic pieces are actually quite flattering and come in a variety of options, making them perfect for every event regardless of how formal or casual.
Here are a few ways to dress up your holiday looks with metallic accents:
- Fabric. Whether you choose a solid metallic fabric; a printed one or a classic fabric with metallic accents is up to you and depends on how much attention you want to garner. No matter what choice you make, you are sure to sparkle the night away in style.
- Shoes. If you need a more flexible option and don’t want to invest in a dress or jacket you only wear once a year, light up your outfit with some metallic or glittery shoes. Again flats are perfect for dancing all night and look classic with both dresses and pants. Guys can also dress up their classic tux by swapping out oxfords for a pair of embellished slippers.
- Jewelry. This is definitely the time to break out your statement jewelry. Big earrings, layers of necklaces or stacks of bracelets will elevate the most basic look to party status. They are also the perfect choice when you’re not quite sure what everyone else will be wearing because they store easily in the smallest of bags so you can adjust your look accordingly.
- Bags. Speaking of bags, a metallic clutch can stand on its own or highlight other metallic details in your outfit. A solid metallic smooth bag is the most versatile, but wristlets are another option that keeps your hands free to enjoy all of the holiday treats.
During the holiday party hopping is inevitable so you need a look that is both festive and adaptable. Instead of relying on just red, green, tartan or other stereotypical holiday palettes try rose, gold and silver metallic pieces. With all of the decorations you won’t lack for inspiration.
