TRIO Programs to offer college financial aid workshop Feb. 28

January 20, 2009

The University of South Carolina TRIO Programs and partners will offer a financial aid workshop Saturday, Feb. 28, for anyone interested in attending college.

The “College Goal Sunday” workshop will be held from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the Richland County Public Library on Assembly Street. The workshop is designed to provide financial-aid information and assistance in completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and is free and open to the public.

Financial aid experts and other volunteers will help parents and students with financial aid paperwork for any college or university and provide information about financial-aid options and eligibility for grants and scholarships. Participants must bring 2008 income-tax returns.

“College Goal Sunday” is a volunteer effort by the University of South Carolina TRIO Programs, the South Carolina Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators, the South Carolina Commission of Higher Education and the South Carolina Student Loan Corporation in cooperation with the Richland County Public Library.

Students are encouraged to pre-register at www.collegegoalsundaysc.org or call Violette Hunter at 803-777-5127 for further information.
