Trustus Theatre announces Season 32

COLUMBIA, SC – Trustus Theatre is proud to announce its Season 32 line up including The Rocky Horror Show, the long awaited Marcus, or the Secret of Sweet, the third play in the Brother/Sister trilogy and a Trustus favorite, The Great American Trailer Park Christmas Musical among many others beginning in September.
Trustus is now offering the public a chance to become a Season 32 Ticket Holder to guarantee an incredible season of theatre and the first pick of seats for each show. As a Season 32 Ticket Holder, six shows are included for the price of $160 and each seasonal show is discounted for Ticket Holders. To get the most out of your Midland’s art entertainment, becoming a Season 32 ticket holder at Trustus Theatre is a must.
The Rocky Horror Show, written by Richard O’Brien, returns to the Trustus Main Stage as the first show of Season 32. Brad Majors and Janet Weiss are deeply in love and become affianced. What follows next is a “strange journey” as the couple finds themselves at the castle of Dr. Frank N Furter, a “sweet transvestite from Transsexual, Transylvania” that invites them up to his lab. The doctor unveils his new creation and madcap chaos ensues.
Playwright of Marcus, or the Secret of Sweet, Tarell Alvin McCraney, sets the stage days before Hurricane Katrina strikes the projects of Louisiana. The currents of Marcus’s life converge, overflowing into his close-knit community and launching the search for his sexual and personal identity on a cultural landscape infused with mysterious family creeds. The provocative, poignant, and fiercely humorous coming-of-age story of a young gay man in the South, Marcus is the stirring conclusion of The Brother/Sister Plays.
During the Christmas season, the lovely inhabitants of Armadillo Acres (North Florida’s premier mobile-living community), will be coming back to the Trustus stage by popular demand! Everyone will be filled with warmth and beer, but when a freak bout of amnesia strikes the trailer park Scrooge, neighborly love is put to the test. You’ll laugh out loud as our trailer-park storytellers Betty, Lin, and Pickles jingle all the way to tell you the story of the wildest Christmas ever in the trailer park! This companion to the original Great American Trailer Park Musical is just as much of a cat-fightin’, sun-worshippin’, chair-throwin’ good time – but with tinsel and Keg Nog.
The entire Season 32 line up includes, The Rocky Horror Show, Marcus, or the Secret of Sweet, Grey Gardens, Hand to God, Rock of Ages, the Playwrights’ Festival Winner’s Play and season specials such as the Great American Trailer Park Christmas Musical, Tail! Spin!, Mark Rapp’s Jingle Bell Jazz, Boy, and Sex on a Sunday.
