Turtle Trackers announce the establishment of the Turtle Trackers-Linda Zambelli Family Scholarship Fund
September 23, 2025Turtle Trackers, an all-volunteer network of over 800 members who help protect endangered sea turtles’ nests and educate the public about sea turtles, announced the establishment of the Turtle Trackers-Linda Zambelli Family Scholarship Fund, administered by Community Foundation of the Lowcountry (CFL).
In honoring the Turtle Trackers commitment to sea turtle preservation, this scholarship provides support for qualified students pursuing post-secondary education in Marine Biology, Environmental Sciences, STEM, education or related fields, and inspires the next generation of Lowcountry environmental leaders. The inaugural scholarship recipients will be announced in May 2026.
Linda Zambelli will be forever remembered for the impact she made on Hilton Head Island through her work with Turtle Trackers. Serving as President of Turtle Trackers for over two years, she grew the organization and helped establish five additional chapters in surrounding beach communities. Under her stewardship, local legislation was passed to further protect the sea turtles and to educate residents and visitors alike to respect and safeguard their nesting sites. Linda’s tenure was cut short by a cancer diagnosis in 2020, and she passed away in 2022. However, her legacy lives on.
