Two Columbia SC establishments officially advance as 2024 James Beard award finalists

April 3, 2024

The James Beard Foundation announced its 2024 Restaurant and Chef Award nominees this morning, and the Columbia region is following up last year’s historic turn of events with two finalists again this year.

The finalists include a second nomination for Lula Drake Wine Parlour, this time for Outstanding Wine and Other Beverages Program and Robbie Robinson of City Limits Barbecue in West Columbia for Best Chef Southeast. The announcement was made at the Waldorf Astoria in Washington, D.C.

“The Columbia region continues to show that we are a top-notch culinary destination as evidenced by this recognition of two James Beard nominees for the second year in a row,” said Bill Ellen, president and CEO of Experience Columbia SC. “We’re extremely proud that our restaurants and chefs stand out within the state of South Carolina and the broader Southeast region. This achievement is proof of the incredible culinary talent who call the Columbia region home. We wish both of our finalists the best and want them to know how proud we are of them.”

Each of these nominees will be invited to the James Beard Restaurant and Chef Awards ceremony on Monday, June 10, at the Lyric Opera of Chicago, where this year’s winners will be announced. You can find the complete list of finalists here.
