Two Smith Moore Leatherwood LLP attorneys honored with South Carolina Leadership in Law awards
February 2, 2017Two Smith Moore Leatherwood LLP attorneys have been recognized by South Carolina Lawyers Weekly as “Leadership in Law” award winners. Robert S. “Trey” Ingram III and M. Kevin McCarrell will be honored at an awards ceremony on March 24 at the Francis Marion Hotel in Charleston.

Ingram focuses his law practice on commercial real estate, primarily representing developers with legal needs related to the acquisition, development, restrictive covenants, zoning and local government matters, leasing and sale of real property. He’s also very passionate about foster care and adoption law in South Carolina and was named recipient of the 2016 American Bar Association’s Child Advocacy Award. Ingram was named partner in 2017 and was listed to Legal Elite for real estate (2015, 2016) and 35 Best and Brightest (2015) by Greenville Business Magazine. Additionally, he has been recognized by South Carolina Super Lawyers as a Rising Star (2015, 2016) and by The Greenville News as a 30 Emerging Leaders (2016). Ingram is a licensed foster parent, mentors through Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Upstate, is a Together for Adoption board member and is very active in service with Fostering Great Ideas’ Speak Up: Voices for Foster Care Reform. He is a graduate of Leadership Greenville Class 41. He earned his undergraduate degree from Charleston Southern University and his law degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law.
McCarrell is a member of the firm’s litigation group, focusing on business litigation with an emphasis on creditors’ rights and bankruptcy. He has experience representing banks and other financial services companies in mortgage foreclosures, debt collection, defending consumer suits, and protecting creditors’ rights in bankruptcy, as well as representing business clients in contract disputes and business torts. He received his juris doctorate, cum laude, from the University of South Carolina School of Law and his bachelor’s degree from the University of South Carolina Honors College. He was recently appointed to the South Carolina Bankruptcy Court’s Advisory Committee on local rules and practice and is a member of the board of directors for Compass of Carolina, currently serving as chair. He has served as a loaned executive for United Way of Greenville County. McCarrell was recently selected to Greenville Business Magazine’s 2016 Best & Brightest and to participate in Leadership Greenville Class 43.
