Tyler A. Tucker, PE, joins GMK as director of electrical engineering

GMK Associates, Inc., announced today the hiring of Tyler A. Tucker, PE, as the director of electrical engineering in GMK’s Engineering Division. In this role, Mr. Tucker will assume the duties of day-to-day oversight of the electrical engineering technical staff and project assignments as the firm’s former director Brell Foster, PE, transitions into the role of director emeritus.
Mr. Tucker possesses over 12 years of experience in electrical engineering design, consulting, project management, construction, and construction administration. In addition to in-depth familiarity with federal, state, and local regulatory compliance for electrical systems, Mr. Tucker brings significant expertise in consulting and design for power distribution systems, emergency and standby power systems, fire alarm and access control systems, lighting control and building automation, IT and communications, healthcare electrical and signal systems, and energy-efficient lighting and controls consulting. He is the Engineer of Record for many various projects ranging across multiple market sectors that include federal, state, and municipal, military, industrial, commercial, educational (higher education and K-12), and healthcare clients.
Mr. Tucker began his career during college and shortly thereafter in the field installing electrical systems while working for an electrical contractor. He transitioned into the consulting engineering and design industry working as an electrical draftsman/designer with Belka Engineering Associates after graduating from Clemson University and returning back to his hometown of Columbia. After an earlier two-year stint with GMK beginning in 2006, Mr. Tucker went to work in a newly formed company providing electrical engineering services, ultimately becoming a principal engineer during his tenure at ETi Engineering, LLC.

Mr. Tucker is a registered professional engineer in South Carolina as well as other various states in the southeast. He holds a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering from Clemson University and currently resides in Ballentine, SC, with his wife and two children.
