Tyrell Williams Named Big South Freshman of the Week

March 31, 2025

Redshirt freshman right handed pitcher Tyrell Williams of the Presbyterian College baseball team has been named the Big South Freshman of the Week following his standout performance in Friday’s series opener against UNC Asheville.

WON’T STOP WILLIAMS
Making his first weekend start of the season, Williams was nearly flawless in PC’s opener against UNC Asheville. He retired the first 12 batters he faced, pitching four perfect innings before finishing with seven strong frames. He allowed just three hits and one earned run while striking out two and issuing only one walk. Of the 25 batters he faced, he only allowed four on base while forcing 10 groundouts. His dominant outing helped secure an 8-3 victory for the Blue Hose and earned him his first win of the season—along with Big South Freshman of the Week honors.

ON THE SEASON
Williams has made 10 appearances, including two starts, in the 2025 season, compiling a 1-1 record. Across 28.2 innings, he has posted a stellar 1.88 ERA, striking out 17 while allowing just 20 hits and six earned runs. He has limited opponents to a .198 batting average and issued only 10 walks, further solidifying his role as a key contributor on the mound for PC.
