United Way Association of South Carolina CEO to represent the state at the Customer Contact Event Series

January 19, 2018

Sharing the stage with Travelocity Founder Terry Jones and Shark Tank star, Robert Herjavec, is no small feat, but Kelly Callahan Cruise is prepared to create her own path, joining them as one of the keynote speakers at Customer Contact Center Week in New Orleans, January 22-25, 2018.

“Being asked to speak to this audience about innovative technology and how it isn’t limited to the corporate sector is exciting to me. Our work at United Way Association of South Carolina is to assist people in crisis, and we need to be available in a variety of ways. When the cry for help is sought, the act of reaching out shouldn’t be restricted by limiting the access points. We serve a dynamic and diverse population that is accustomed to accessing information in a variety of ways and we need to meet them at those entry points.  We are doing this through our SC 2-1-1 Contact Center.”

As President & CEO of the United Way Association of South Carolina (UWASC), Ms. Cruise is the leader of one the largest United Way state organizations and one of the nation’s largest 2-1-1 non-profit contact centers.

As a United Way state organization, UWASC serves as a leader in helping the South Carolina United Way network create better opportunities for South Carolina residents. One way this is accomplished is through SC 2-1-1, the statewide information and referral service that helps serve as a safety net for our citizens and streamlines the search for assistance. Individuals can call 2-1-1 anytime, 24/7 and reach a specialist that will help them navigate, the often difficult maze that is health and human services. Further, SC 2-1-1 can be utilized at SC211.org for web searches and the SC 2-1-1 App can be downloaded to an individual’s smart phone.

SC 2-1-1 provides help to those seeking assistance for a variety of community and social issues.  For example, those needing utility assistance or home care support for a senior, or those who are seeking job-training programs, as well as, as we’ve seen recently, real-time help in a disaster.  SC 2-1-1 is available for all of South Carolina to turn to when they need it.

CCW is the most respected event focused on customer experience transformation. In 2017, CCW events attracted over 2,000 senior level executives from more than 1,200 companies, across 50 plus countries.

“It is an honor to represent the United Way network, 2-1-1 system and South Carolina on the CCW global stage and share the story of how a small, non-profit call center has leveraged the collective power of its network and harnessed technology solutions to create systems change and deliver results over the past ten years.” Ms. Cruise elaborates, “We continuously seek ways to effectively and efficiently connect South Carolina residents with the information and services they need.”
