United Way launches MyUWStory.org with new banners across downtown Greenville
July 25, 2018United Way of Greenville County is partnering with the City of Greenville to share a new series of stories showing the life-changing impact of United Way in our community.
City crews have lined the streets of downtown Greenville with new banners featuring people whose lives have been changed by United Way and the generosity of its donors.
The banners promote a new website, MyUWStory.org, where visitors can watch personal stories of United Way’s vital work to change lives and strengthen our community. The initial slate of video profiles includes:
- Tanglewood Middle School Principal Edward Anderson, who has seen his school transformed by United Way and the OnTrack Greenville initiative
- Chrystal Wilson, a wife and mother of three who found financial stability for her family after earning a real estate license through a United Way-funded employment training program
- United Way Campaign Chair and Fox Carolina news anchor Diana Watson, whose personal connection to United Way’s work has deepened through volunteerism and one-on-one mentoring with Greenville County students
- Beth Casey, a long-time United Way supporter whose son, Luke, received life-changing developmental support through United Way funded partners
- Hope Woford, who overcame tough obstacles in the foster care system and is now dedicated to helping other foster children in Greenville County through United Way partner Fostering Great Ideas.
- Sara Montero-Buria of Hispanic Alliance, a United Way partner working to foster collaboration between people, resources and cultures in Greenville County.
The banners can be seen lining stretches of Main, Academy and Church streets, and are expected to remain up through mid-August. The rollout also includes additional banners with the phrase “Change Lives. Give.” in English, Spanish, German and French, aimed at rallying Greenville County’s diverse, international community.
“United Way is in the business of changing lives. By giving to United Way, you are investing in our collective future to ensure that Greenville County is a great place to live now and for generations to come,” said United Way of Greenville County President and CEO Meghan Barp. “We are excited to share these inspiring stories made possible by the collective generosity of our caring community, and we are inviting people to share their own story by visiting MyUWStory.org.”
