United Way of Laurens County Collecting ‘Bags of Love’ for Senior Citizens

January 28, 2025

The United Way of Laurens County is inviting the community to brighten the lives of senior citizens with its annual “Bags of Love” initiative. This thoughtful program aims to deliver small care packages to homebound seniors and nursing home residents throughout Laurens County, spreading warmth and cheer during the winter months.

Community members are encouraged to assemble and donate bags filled with everyday essentials and small comforts. Suggested items include liquid soap, sugar-free candy, blankets, hats, gloves, calendars, books, and personal care products like toothbrushes, toothpaste, and lotion. A full list of recommended items is provided to ensure the seniors receive practical and uplifting gifts.

Donations of bags OR individual items can be dropped off at the United Way of Laurens County office, located at 16 Peachtree Street in Clinton, no later than Tuesday, February 11, 2025. The collected bags will be distributed to local nursing homes and seniors across Laurens County.

“This is a wonderful opportunity for our community to show care and compassion to some of our most cherished residents,” said Aryele Redmond, a representative of the United Way of Laurens County. “A simple gesture like this can bring a smile to someone’s face and remind them that they are valued and loved.”
