United Way of the Piedmont hires new Campaign Director, Maria Maddin

United Way of the Piedmont is excited to welcome Maria Maddin as a new Campaign Director.
After three and a half years of the hardest job she has ever loved, being a stay at home mom, Maddin is delighted to return to the workforce. She says, “I am extremely thankful and excited for the opportunity to use my previous professional experience as well as my love for this community in my new role. Since coming to Spartanburg in 1991, this town has become mine and my family’s home and I feel truly blessed to be able to serve it by being part of United Way of the Piedmont’s work.”
Before her time as a stay at home mom, Maddin had previously served as Director of Communications at Upward Sports for seven years. Prior to Upward Sports, she worked for eleven years at Milliken and Company, starting her career in Human Resources and later leading a team as the Marketing Communications Manager for Milliken Chemical.
As Campaign Director, Maddin will be responsible for managing employee-giving campaigns, relationships with corporate United Way partners, and developing innovative fundraising strategies. Maddin will also be coordinating the efforts of United Way’s newly established New Opportunities Committee. With the vast economic development initiatives ongoing in our communities, this committee seeks to establish relationships with new and existing businesses to connect them to the work of United Way of the Piedmont.
Vice President of Resource Development for United Way of the Piedmont, Monica Greene, says, “Maddin’s strong communications and business development experience are an exciting addition to the United Way of the Piedmont team and will be instrumental in her role to further United Way’s transformative work.”
