UnitedHealthcare Designates Five Quality Programs at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center
July 30, 2012MYRTLE BEACH, SC – July 30, 2012 – Grand Strand Regional has received five UnitedHealth Premium specialty center designations from United Healthcare in recognition of quality care. Designations are in: total joint replacement, surgical spine, electrophysiology, interventional cardiac care and cardiac surgery.
The UnitedHealth Premium designation signals to consumers that Grand Strand Regional meets or exceeds nationally recognized standards of care in these areas.
UnitedHealthcare developed the UnitedHealth Premium specialty center program to give its members information and access to hospitals meeting rigorous quality criteria. The designation is based on detailed information about specialized training, practice capabilities and outcomes and is designed to help members make informed decisions should they need total joint replacement care, electrophysiology procedures, interventional cardiac care, cardiac surgery or spine surgery.
Extensive quality and outcomes criteria are reviewed based on nationally recognized medical standards and expert advice. The criteria incorporate measurements of breadth and depth of care, staff experience, emergency care, quality and outcomes reporting.
Grand Strand Regional previously was named a Blue Distinction Center for spine surgery, knee/hip replacement and cardiac service by Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association.
