University of South Carolina – Business Partnership Foundation welcomes new Trustees

The University of South Carolina – Business Partnership Foundation announced the appointment of two distinguished professionals, Lori Hair and Walter B. Todd, III, to its Board of Trustees. Their extensive experience and leadership in the financial and business sectors will significantly contribute to the Foundation’s mission of advancing the Darla Moore School of Business at the University of South Carolina.

“Lori and Walter are the types of leaders who will extend connections and deepen engagement between the Moore School and alumni, donors and business partners,” said Board Chair D. Roger Nanney, retired Vice Chair of Deloitte LLP. “Their commitment to serving the Foundation and their personal passion for the Moore School will strengthen our positive impact on students, corporations, and current and future business leaders.”

Lori Hair

Lori Hair is Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer, and Treasurer for BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina. In her role, she oversees the organization’s financial stewardship, including Financial Services, Treasury, Investment Management, Tax, Cost and Budget, Mergers and Acquisitions, Human Resources, Legal, and General Services divisions. Ms. Hair joined BlueCross in 2007 and has served as CFO since 2021, previously holding the positions of Vice President, Controller, and Assistant Treasurer.

Ms. Hair has over 20 years of financial leadership experience, primarily in the insurance industry. She is also a Certified Public Accountant and holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a Master of Accountancy from the University of South Carolina Darla Moore School of Business. She serves on various boards, including the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association’s Plan Investment Fund, Blue Venture Fund, and the University of South Carolina Education Foundation.

“I’m eager to contribute my energy to a school that has meant so much to my career and that is such an important part of the South Carolina economy,” said Ms. Hair.

Walter B. Todd, III

Walter B. Todd, III is President and Chief Investment Officer of Greenwood Capital, one of South Carolina’s largest independent registered investment advisory firms, with over $1.5 billion in assets under management. Mr. Todd oversees the firm’s disciplined top-down macro-economic investment philosophy and leads a highly experienced investment team. With 30 years in the financial industry, he joined Greenwood Capital in 2002. His previous roles include Investment Banking Associate at Lehman Brothers Global Real Estate Group in New York and analyst for First Union Capital Markets Group in Charlotte, NC.

Mr. Todd earned his undergraduate degree in Business Administration from Washington and Lee University and an M.B.A. in Finance from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, where he graduated as a Palmer Scholar. He is frequently featured on prominent financial media platforms including Bloomberg, Fox Business News and BBC.

Mr. Todd stated: “I’ve long held the Moore School in high esteem as a leader among business schools across the world and consider it a privilege to join the Foundation as a trustee.”
