Updated Richland County shelter list

Richland County Emergency Services Department is working with the community to open temporary shelters to assist with people displaced by flooding.

 

Several roads in Richland County have been rendered impassable by the continuous rain that occurred overnight. We are asking residents to stay in their homes even if there is standing water on your property. Move to the highest area in your home. Only leave your home if you feel you are in immediate danger by remaining there.

The continuous rain has created several areas throughout Richland County that are no longer safe due to flooding. Richland County ESD, along with other agencies have rescued over a hundred residents from their cars, and placed them in shelters. The condition of many homes may have deteriorated overnight, many area residents may be seeking shelter beyond their home. Following is a list of shelters that Emergency Services is opening:

Saint Andrew Middle School
1231 Bluefield Drive
Columbia, SC 29210
