Upstate Pregnancy Center Expands Diaper Drive-Thru Event on October 15 to Support Families Impacted by Hurricane Helene
October 14, 2024In response to the growing needs of families affected by Hurricane Helene, the Upstate Pregnancy Center has added a second Diaper Drive-Thru event in Laurens. The additional event will take place on Tuesday, October 15, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM in the parking lot of Wattsville Drug (24 Sirrine Street, Laurens). This follows the first drive-thru held on October 8, as part of the center’s ongoing efforts to help families dealing with power outages and job disruptions caused by the storm.
In addition to providing diapers and baby supplies, the center will be distributing non-perishable food bags, one per family, while supplies last. This added resource aims to help families who may be facing food insecurity in the wake of the storm.
“We’ve seen an increase in families needing support in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, and we’re grateful to be able to expand our services this month,” said Brenda Stewart, Chair of the Upstate Pregnancy Center. “Our goal is to provide essential supplies like diapers and wipes, and we’re also offering food to help families during this challenging time.”
Families can receive free diapers, wipes, and formula (while supplies last) by presenting a parent or guardian’s photo ID and supporting documentation such as birth certificates, WIC or Medicaid cards, or foster care paperwork. Each eligible family will receive one pack of diapers and wipes per child, for up to two children per household. IDs are only required for a family’s first visit.
Due to storm-related power issues, Carolina Pregnancy Center will not be onsite with their mobile unit.
